Fired AND Hired all within a matter of hours. PHEW!

Boy what an interesting month July turned out to be. Just before the 4th weekend the firm I was with laid off a few secretaries (me being one of them). This wasn't exactly a shock but was still rather shocking. I had heard through the office gossip pipeline that they were going to be doing some layoffs and given that one of my attorneys had left the firm a month prior to the lay offs logistically I knew my neck could be on the chopping block. These are scary times and jobs can be difficult to come by. With my husband still in school, I knew I couldn't afford to be out of work and that I needed to get a job quickly. Thankfully, I hadn't even made it out of the parking lot from my previous job before I had put a call into another previous employer with whom I maintained a good relationship even after I left 3 years ago. By that afternoon I was given my old job back. I was literally unemployed for two and a half hours. The firm I went back to opened me back with open arms- literally.
If there is one thing I am it’s a fighter. I know what I need to do and when it comes down to supporting my family I will stop at nothing to do just that. I knew that sitting around crying was not an option - though I did my fair share of that too. I knew I had to pick myself up and work it out. I am extremely grateful that I was able to get my old job back and am grateful to be working again. Let that be a lesson. NEVER burn bridges! It has been a very smooth transition and it is nice to be working at a place with friends and familiar faces. I love the work and am enjoying being busy again and having my days fly by.
I took a week and a half off between starting my new job and thoroughly enjoyed that time at home with my little man. We had so much fun together and that is time I will always cherish. Gabe is such a smart and sweet little boy. He had me laughing and pulling my hair out constantly with his funny antics. Enjoy the pics below.
I went against my better judgment one day and decided to let Gabe roam while I took a 30 second shower. 30 seconds was all he needed to find the Vaseline and get busy. It took a whole week to get ALL of the Vaseline out of his curls. He sure was soft though.

"Peas please." Gabe loves to eat peas. One particular day he also found another use for them- nose plugs! I got a little frantic at one point because one was particularly stuck. I thought I was going to have to make an embarrassing trip to the doctors to have it removed. Thankfully Gabe sneezed and it shot out. He was laughing hysterically the whole time. He has since worked out that if he puts a pea in one nostril and blocks the other one with his finger and blows out of his nose that they shoot out rather quickly. Meal time is always entertaining at our house!

Did you also know that corn and green beans also make great nose pluggers?
